Effective January 1, 2017, MTO requires drivers who are applying for a Class B or E licence to obtain a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters (CRJM) Check or equivalent. The CRJM Check will ensure regulatory standards under the Highway Traffic Act are met. Applicants can apply for a CRJM Check at their local police service or through an authorized criminal record check provider. If applying through the police, please contact your local police service to determine the appropriate location to obtain your CRJM Check. Fees may vary between police services. Applicant’s Checklist For Class E Course Checklist: You must obtain these pre-requisites before registering: Minimum requirement-Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence (Class G1 & G2 are not eligible). You will need to have a special MTO Medical form copmpleted by a doctor. These forms are available free of charge at our offices, or your local Drive Test Centre. Purchase a copy of the Ministry of Transportation’s ‘Bus Driver Handbook’ and read it over in preparation for the Written Test for your beginner’s licence. This manual can be purchased at our offices, Licence & Vehicle Offices, the Drive Test Centre or your local bookstore. You do not need to purchase the Air Brake Manual, as one is provided at course registration. Take your completed MTO Medical Form to your local Drive Test Centre when you go to write your beginner’s test.
